Day one proper

Bags dumped, it was into the city to have a look around. 11:08, the first pastry was consumed. We checked out the glockenspieland headed to a museum where they gave the explanation of events leading to the second world war.... I put it up there with the Killing Fields tour as depressing places I have been (Editor's note: nowhere near as graphic as the Killing Fields).
From here it was a walk back to the town centre, where we joined a 2 hour walking tour. It was good apart from the cold and wind and annoying rain. Many umbrellas turned inside out during the tour.
At 4:30 it was decided that the soup restaurant was the place for dinner. We walked back to our hotel, relaxed, checked out the internet and discovered that the soup restaurant closed at 6pm. Annette decided on schnitzel as  replacement and Andy's Krablergarten was the choice.
Wanting to get our money's worth for the day transport pass, we caught a tram, and then another, after Google maps lied to us, to arrive at Andy's to a sort of substantial line waiting to get in. We persevered, and after a 20 minute wait, got a table. A schnitzel was delivered 10 minutes later, that looked like it had been made out of an entire cow. Please note, if you eat at Andy's, do what we did and have just a pretzel with meat and a pickle for lunch as you are going to need the stomach space.
Also, get the salad as a side, as with any Man versus Food challenge, carbs are not your friend. We estimated that the plate was 30cm wide:That is before and after. Many people, including us, left with our meal leftover wrapped in foil. Back to the hotel for some well-deserved sleep.

A prelude

Well we've been in Munich for 3 hours and in that time we have finally got the sim card to work. Winner winner. Sitting outside the airport using their wifi is not an ideal start, especially with the cold  and windy weather that forced me to put on my jacket.
Let's take a step back in time. Prior to departure we tried out some app that helps to defeat jet lag. It puts you on a caffeine schedule and when you can have dark and bright light. Staying up until 1am with bright lights on is a bit weird, but I did manage 6 hours sleep from Singapore to Munich so maybe it's working. Or was it the sleeping tablet recommended to us by a flight attendant on our last holiday? Anyway, I've just had a revvies (caffeine-filled strip) and we are heading via train to our hotel to dump our bags, prior to a day of nothing in particular.
It's a little early in the holiday for toilet talk but I did carefully take a photo of the urinal in Changi airport, being careful not to get arrested.
It's a picture of a fly. Men are really easy to amuse.
Then on arrival in Munich, they had little pictures of lit candles in the urinals. Sorry, no pics for that one.

Last Day

A leisurely breakfast followed by a 40 minute walk to an Artisan museum/ workshop/ shop resulted in 1 art purchase, 1 Pepsi purchase and the complete saturation of my shirt due to the heat. I did wear yesterday's shirt in case this happened. We walked back, had another shower and checked out at midday.
I had always wondered how they made wood carvings, and now I know.
We took the easy option and ate lunch at the hotel restaurant. It will probably be our last food for 9ish hours except for some leftover custard cakes from Vietnam. Annette went traditional, I went predictable. They were both spectacular meals.
Hawaiian also had chicken and capsicum. Mmmm. Over indulgence.
Onto the bus, and a 1 hour drive out to the new airport. Seriously took less than 5 minutes to check-in and get through security.
A two hour wait, cup of tea and iced coffee, Ho Chi Minh city, Sydney, Holsworthy, Wattle Grove, Lounge, Work (golf is my new work).
Stay tuned for "we're going to Europe to do things that I don't know about yet".
I hope you enjoyed it.Sorry that there were no Dong jokes.
