Leaving New York

I haven't done the 530 wake up for a week. We finalised packing , checked our bill that had been left under our door, wondered why they had charged us for food we hadn't purchased and headed down for 6am breakfast......which starts at 630.

A week of breakfast training and we only needed 15 minutes to gulp down our food before the taxi to Laguardia for our flight. We left early in case there was traffic. There was no traffic. There was a line a mile long however to get through security.

I was looking forward to my usual weekly patting down. This time they did my hair. Not sure what I could have been hiding in there.

Our bags weighed in at 48 pounds. That was good news. The bad news is that this is over the international limit. Looks like we are looking at a miracle. I knew that I shouldn't have packed clothes.

Of course we left late and arrived late but once there hit the luggage jackpot with our bags being 1st and 4th off the plane.

Taxi to our guest house and then did what every tourist does on arrival in New Orleans.........walked to Walmart to look for bras. This resulted in a 2 bra, 1 shirt, 2 gym shorts and 4 golf gloves purchase, because they won't cause any weight problems.

Lunch was nice at a small cafe, although having only eaten plane peanuts, pretzels and a vegan biscuit in the last 7 hours, an old leather boot would have been good. Annette had the crayfish melt sandwich . I had proper food, that being dead land animals.

Nap time followed by Annette figuring out what's on the next couple of days

730pm and we headed off to Bourbon Street where Annette once more got her seafood on again. I was promised a hot blackened chicken but it lacked the heat. Lucky that we chose dessert. Mine was bigger than my main meal.

We caught the cable car/tram/trolley car to and from dinner. Bourbon st could just be the loudest and smelliest street in the world.

The trolley car back at the end of the night was cut short by a few blocks because...............of ..........trackwork. Buses were replacing trolley cars.
