So we left our San Antonio accommodation leaving behind the nasty surprise in the toilet for the unlucky cleaner. Last night we were instructed to use the unit across from us as our toilet de jour. That means the toilet of the day. Even though it was night, I don't know how to say "toilet of the night". I guess had I paid attention to Miss Underwood in year 7 French Class, and got more than 3% in my final exam, this post would have changed.
The weather was angry today my friends. Cloudy with extended downpours that made vision not so great on Interstate 35 to Houston. About an hour out, I got the instructions to head to Buc-ee's.
Toilets were needed.
It was perhaps the largest service station I have ever seen, both petrol and food wise.
The toilets were spectacular. I was tempted to take a photo, but then thought that local authorities may not be too pleased about snapshots of men at urinals being taken. I thought that the jail term would be ok, but that when the inmates found out I was "inside" for taking pics of men at urinals, things may take a turn for the worse.
My advice is to get the pork with pineapple and ditch the chicken. Oh, and get the flour tortilla.
Next stop was Houston Water Cistern. An underground water storage cistern, made of concrete and pillars to store water many years ago. As you can well imagine, the echos were long.
Lucky for me, I had Barry My Assistance Duck with me to test the theory of whether duck sounds will echo.
After the tour I decided that me and Barry should part ways. He wanted to continue his dream of being a Doctor, even though he had never been to University. I guess that would make him a quack.
From here we walked up the riverbank in cloudy weather and back in the rain that decided to follow us. It was about 7000 steps, but maybe double for me as I'm still highly caffeinated and walking in circles.
Back to the car and then onto accommodation, only driving through one stop sign.
Crisis averted as we figured out the TV. We rugged up as it is cold all of a sudden and took a walk to the local Whole Foods store. We cancelled the BBQ night and have gone for home cooked.
The washing machine is on, the basketball is on TV, so the day is done.
