Breakfast this morning featured a sub standard pho. It's a noodle soup. The broth was not up to my soupy standards and it has thrown my next 2 breakfasts into turmoil. I need a good coffee.
Ah, that's better. It was worth the minute of my precious time.
Would you like to know about my day up to that point?
0730, onto bus to the Cu chi tunnel, where the Viet Cong hid during the American war (what the Vietnamese call the Vietnam war). Quite an amazing place. We went through 20m of an underground tunnel because we probably would have got stuck had we gone any further. We learned about how they hid, the booby traps, what agent orange did and all the war stuff.
Back on the bus through the insane traffic, a quick change of shoes and socks and then I earned my nomination for Husband of the Year.
We caught a GRAB (Vietnamese Uber) and for about $7 went across town to not 1, but 2, fabric markets. Unfortunately the right piece could not be found and the 2nd market closed 2 hours before advertised. Another GRAB back through even more insane traffic.
At 6ish, it dawned on me that apart from 3 pieces of tapioca root with nuts, sugar and salt, a mini muffin, Pepsi and water, that I hadn't eaten since breakfast. We found a pretty popular Vietnamese restaurant. The mains were a bit small, and I couldn't taste mine as the first thing I did was eat an entire chilli. I desserted to make up for it.Annette has fallen asleep one minute after the declaration that "it's too early to go to sleep". The outside traffic and voices will keep me awake for ages, as will the replay of the golf.
Stay tuned for breakfast report on Tuesday.
