Our first full day and we hit the 23000 steps mark. In no particular order we walked to Hyde Park, saw Buckingham Palace, saw one of the guards pretend to be repositioning his rifle when we surmised that all he was doing was trying to relocate an out of position appendage. This was confirmed by the appropriate movement of the left hand to put everything in it's correct place.
We saw the Tower of London, Clock Tower and Kensington Palace.
All this was fuelled by the largest custard donut I have ever eaten. It's funny how our accommodation is in the middle of the largest street market I have seen.......and I have seen thousands. I just wish they wouldn't set up noisily outside our window at 4.37am. That one moment that I lost Annette was costly as she slipped into an antique market and came out with a lighter wallet and a larger brooch collection. With our guides for the day, Claire and Jeremy, we saw everything. Perhaps the only drawback was over-caramelized quesadillas at a pub for lunch.
Nearing the end of the day, I was put on a train to find my way home while Annette and Claire went to the theatre with Candi to see Matilda.
The recommendations of the 3 pound Tesco meal deal were taken up and the evening was spent cramping up.It's now Saturday morning. Annette is still sleeping loudly, I have had no sleep, my head is aching from lack of sleep and water and I am contemplating signing my own death sentence by waking her up.
Today we are off to museums. Be still my beating heart. Now where is the sarcasm font?
