The diversion

Why is it that on holidays there is always a 4.30am wake up day. With an Irish flight at 9 and a long train trip to the airport. Another flight, another pat down.

A 9am flight turned into a 9.25am flight which left later than that. The 75 minute flight seemed a bit longer as well. Apparently we were going in circles to see if we could break through the fog at Shannon. We failed.  We ended up at Cork, with the promise of a 90 minute bus ride to Shannon. Seems as though the Captain had been telling us, in between trying to sell us lottery tickets but with his accent, nobody understood. Not even the Irish.
So we sussed out whether we could get a hire car from Cork. We could ! Some 45 minutes later and over 3 hours late on our schedule we hit the road with only one kangaroo hop getting out of the car park.
Off to the Rock of Cashel we drove.  The roads are interesting, but more about that tomorrow. The castle was awesome, our accommodation great, and for the first time in years, toilet paper that was not the width of a Coles receipt.
Then it was off to Kilkenny where Claire gave us an expert tour of the town and found us the best pub food with an Irish band. Back home for a drive through the hedges.... but more about that tomorrow.
