My Spinal Tap Pilgrimage

4.50am is too early to wake up on holidays, or really any time.
The taxi app worked and we arrived at the airport in really good time. For the first time in recent history, nobody from Customs  wanted to touch my body. Made a wise choice and ate a giant scone before boarding our 7.35 flight. From what I could tell from the fast talking Irish, there were lots of planes slowing us down. 40 minutes later we left.
Once again I declined to buy lottery tickets on board and we arrived back in England later than expected. We still had plenty of time. What could go wrong?
Car hire pick up took a while and the traffic to East Putney, where our remaining luggage was holidaying, sucked. After dropping Riley and Candi off at soccer, we headed off for Stonehenge via Tesco.
Tesco sells SIM cards and our favourite UK holiday 3 pound meal deal. It was well after I haven't eaten for a long time and I'm going to die of starvation time so we took the short detour. Somehow we managed to find it........and then lost our car. It was right where we left it. We just didn't know where that was. We did manage to relocate it and with meal deals securely on board along with M and M's, we headed for Stonehenge.  We had the 3pm tour booked, made it by 3.15pm and don't think it made a difference as to what time we arrived anyway.
I have always wanted to visit Stonehenge.  It's a lot smaller than expected,  but really puts This Is Spinal Tap into perspective.
We then proceeded to our excellent backyard cottage in Bath.
It took us around 24 hours to fly to England. This pales in comparison to the time it takes to get an order at your local Outskirts of Bath Chippie.
3 workers, a packed little shop where people seemed to be stocking up on fish and chips in case of a nuclear war, and it took forever. Of course when you order a burger and scampi you are tempting fate. The burger sat on the counter for a long time, and then they finally realised that they forgot the scampi.
But in the end it was good and with the discovery of lots of homemade shortbread at our Air BnB accommodation, Annette is very happy.
